The Gift of Abundance

October 10, 2018 by Karen Pischke

Abundance –  Today is October 10th. ‘10.10.’ For some people, the #10 represents abundance.

“To fill life with abundance, give with love and accept with gratitude.”
― Debasish Mridha

October 10, 2010 seemed a significant date somehow. One that became a theme for a special meditation event I offered. My ‘10.10.10 Meditation Event’ drew a number of people to the Manchester Community Center. I will always remember the special people it brought into my life. Connections were made that night that continue to unfold, sometimes with great synchronicity. My PhotoArt card ‘Heart Rock in Memory’ (printed by Cape Ann Giclee and found at the Bookstore Gloucester) was photographed during a walk at Walden Pond, in memory of Catherine, a woman who attended the meditation that night. Walden Pond was one of her favorite places to visit. There are many more hearts in memory that have followed. I am grateful for the special people and memories they ‘connect’ me with.

10.10.1903. ‘Happy Birthday’ to my Grandmother Pischke! Today would have her 115th birthday.  I resemble her. She emigrated from Germany post WWI after meeting my grandfather, an American soldier in occupied Germany. At that time, she spoke no English, and he no German. I once asked her “How did you two communicate, if you didn’t speak English and grandpa spoke no German?” With a twinkle in her eyes and a wink, in her slight German accent that always remained she responded-“Vee had our vays.” 🙂 I can still remember her comforting back rubs and hear the German lullaby she sang me to sleep with. In her presence, I felt abundantly and unconditionally loved and supported, for which I am most grateful.

“Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.” ~ Wayne Dyer.

I am also grateful to be able to ‘work in my Joy.’ As a Registered Nurse since 1983, I have had the good fortune to enjoy my work, no matter what I was doing or where I was working. Whether Intensive Care Nursing, Travel Nursing, Cardiac Rehabilitation, or Integrative Nursing and Healthcare, I have been fortunate to have a profession where I can ‘do what I love, and love what I do.’

Today, I wish for you the ‘Gift of Abundance;’ Abundance of Health, Happiness, Wealth, Peace, Love, Joy, and Any Other Positive Attributes You Choose to Enjoy …. May They Be Yours.

~ Karen Pischke, BSN, RN
